Birthday Outfit – Part III

Hey, you guys!

Post an amazing midnight surprise and an even more amazing lunch, for my birthday dinner I went out with my family to Barbeque Nation. Earlier I thought of wearing something else for the dinner, but at the last moment, I was just too drained to dress up and get ready basically. Plus, it was just too hot to wear the outfit that I had planned to wear, I wanted something loose that didn’t stick to my skin. I found this cute off shoulder top in a shopping bag that I bought a little while ago but hadn’t really worn it since then. I paired this red off-shoulder top with my black legging as I wanted the top to stand out and get all the attention. Since I also wanted my collar bones to stand out, I decided to pull my hair back in a ponytail and also it was very hot to let my hair down.

Birthday Cake

Birthday – Part I

It was my 23rd birthday on 5th May and I won’t lie about it, but somehow the number freaked me out. I don’t mind getting older and I am not scared of the numbers but somehow just this one number ’23’ freaked me out. Probably because of the fact that this is the year a lot of changes are going to take place or simply because this year can completely transform my life.

My birthday started off with my school friends coming to wish me at midnight with the birthday cake, which I think was really sweet of them. It is only when you are out of college that you realise who truly is there for you and who isn’t. People surely wish you on FaceBook, but very few people will spare 2 mins to actually send you a personal message or call after seeing the reminder. It means a lot to me when friends I am not even in touch with, make sure to at least drop me a message every year. As we get older, our circle starts getting smaller and smaller. So was the case with my birthday. But I am really glad that it started off with the people who mean a lot to me, people who really care for and who love me. No unwanted people this year, just everyone who are a part of my small inner circle.

Anyway, that was that. On the actual day, my day started off in a very unusual manner, something that I have never done. I woke up at 5:15 AM, I mean I had to. I am not at all a morning person. But I have this Yoga Internship going on, for which I had to take the class. I met these students just 4 days before my birthday and all of them were so sweet, they wished me, sang the birthday song like we used to in school, gave me their blessings and good wished. It was a different yet amazing start of my birthday. For lunch, we went to Madeira and Mime in Powai. I must say, I absolutely loved the place. In fact, you can read the detailed review about it on Zomato. I had a great time over there, after which we went to the Powai Lake to chill for a while till the time our Uber came.

For dinner, I went to Barbeque Nation with my family. No, my birthday wasn’t just about the food, but hey, I am a Punjabi and food is important. I had a good time over there too. It’s like a family ritual to have dinner together on birthdays and I absolutely love it.

Just 4 days before my birthday, my sister had taken me shopping and she knows how crazy I am when it comes to perfumes. I always wanted a perfume from Parcos, but since a majority of them are expensive, I always thought to enter that store when I had a good amount of cash with me. Suddenly, while shopping, my sister entered the Parcos store and asked me, ‘Which one do you want?’ I was completely shocked! I wasn’t even ready to enter the store. But since she wasn’t coming out, I had to step in. In just 2 minutes we came out of the store with a Parcos bag and a Calvin Klein Perfume!!! I cried for 30 minutes straight. I am strange that way, I get over emotional when something really touches me.

Ah! It was such an amazing day!

September Favourites!

It seems as if September just brushed past me, though it was a lot productive and so many different things happened in this month, it just came and went, just like that.

Back to Work: The same job that I had quit, I was called back over there as the client had an event coming up in the same month and they didn’t know much about it as I was the one in charge and I knew the event very well. So, they asked me to rejoin the organisation.

Ganesh Utsav: I somehow like this festival, people visit each other’s homes and there is so much happiness and enthusiasm all around. I enjoyed visiting my friends’ homes this year.

Book launch: I also attended a book launch this month. My boss, Manali had written a chapter in the book – Eighteen Plus Duets, which is basically authored by Apurv Nagpal. So I attended this book launch and even though it was my first such event, I kind of have a feeling that it definitely won’t be my last one. The launch was at the Spare Kitchen, Worli, it was a perfect location for such an event. Really liked the vibe going on at that place.

Renovation: Finally, I repeat, finally the renovation has commenced at my place. Which also means that I will have my own space to make videos for you guys now, I think its time to spread my wings to YouTube now, what say?

STARup: This was the client’s event for which I had to rejoin my workplace. I loved the event and I can proudly say that my efforts paid off for the Social Media bit that I did. It was a summit organised by ah! Ventures, our client, and even though I met them for the first time, I must say I liked those people. It was at this event that I met so many new people and got to know so much about the entrepreneurial and startup world. I also attended the session and I was highly motivated by listening to the stories of so many women entrepreneurs.

Day out: I had a much-needed break from the daily work life with this day out. I went out with my friends to Glocal, Andheri. It was a nice day with a few drinks and I really liked the place, it was totally my kind of a place with the music and the whole rusty-contemporary interior.

Blog: So, Assorted Cognition completed 3 years this month, though it wasn’t as active as it right now, it still means a lot to me. This is something that I started and I didn’t end it abruptly. I promise to further grow this baby of mine.

Dinner: Finally, Irish House opened in Thane and I went to this place for Mayuresh’s birthday dinner. It was a nice and lovely evening.

How was your September?

August Favourites!

For me, August was a long month. A month full of changes, surprises and emotions. I learnt new ways of dealing with situations, kind of feel more confident about myself too.

I finally bought the legging pants from ZARA, on which I had my eyes since some time.

I am enjoying my Yoga course and looking forward to learning more about it. I was also appointed as the Group Leader.

Last day at work:
Remember about my resignation? It was my last day at work on 12th August, post which we went out for my farewell dinner. (And I was asked to rejoin in the same month as well)

Day out:
After ages I went to town side, Kala Ghoda and Colaba area, Mumbai. We went to 145 café and Gokul. It was such a nice day. I really wanted a break from my daily routine. The day was all about food and good time.

I have started giving more time to my blog and I’m loving it! I promise to continue doing that and more, no matter what.

Also got another assignment for freelancing.

Somaiya College:
It was almost after 3 years that I went back to my Junior College for some inquiry and eating food in the college canteen and
Maggi House. It was kind of nostalgic and surprising about how much the college has developed since then.

How was your August? Let me know in the comments below, I love knowing more about you guys!

Last day at work!

As you must be knowing from one of my previous posts that I have resigned from my job and was serving the notice period. So finally, it was my last day at work the previous Friday and it was a sigh of relief for me. I am finally free to do what I want to do, work on my terms, be my own boss and not work under anybody.

I did learn new things at this work place, I learnt to handle stressful situations, cranky clients, multitask between my own work and also look after my team-mates work, developed team-leader qualities, handled clients on my own, came up with new ways to improve the work quality, learnt time management and learnt to control my emotions.

The work place had its set of pros and cons, less commute being the pros and no fixed work hours, at times working even on weekends but still get unnoticed, low salary, no growth, work pressure, inexperienced colleagues being the cons. I mean, I would be doing my work and also write copies for another colleague, which in turn decreased her workload and overloaded me, but I never got appreciated for the same, neither in words nor in terms of salary.

Anyway, my last day at work was kind of good, my bosses got a farewell cake for me, post which we went to Poptates for dinner and have a few drinks, it was a good last day.

This also means that I will no longer be in touch with that one friend who coincidently was also one of my colleague at work. Good riddance? Sure we had good memories and friendship but it just had to end because things had complicated. If she ever reads this, I just hope she has a good life with good people in it. I would just like to erase that part and never look back, its over, never getting back in her life ever again, its for the good.

While I was serving my notice period, this one person came to the office to replace me, and I am glad she did. She was my junior in college but we never really spoke to each other, we lost so much time in hand. But anyway, its just strange how out of nowhere some people just connect to each other. It was great knowing her. She is a very nice person and she was the only reason why I wouldn’t have minded staying a little back longer in office. A highly knowledgeable and a gem of a person, I could learn so much from her. I wish her all the happiness and luck in the world and may she be able to do whatever she wants to do.

Overall, it was a nice experience.
But, job is done and dusted, its time to do something of my own now and be my own boss.

Dobby is a free elf!
