Hey, you guys!
Today’s blog post is slightly different from the usual. But since I share everything with you guys, I thought I also need to share this amazing news about a social awareness drive that I support, with you guys!
Recently, the PWD department, MMVD, Government of Maharashtra, CASI Global and CSR Diary had organized a Maha Walkathon (Grand – walkathon) on the 18th of November’18. More than 5 Lakh participants and supporters from all over Maharashtra, came down on the roads, in different locations, to support this great cause. What is the cause, you ask? Basically, Maha Walkathon was a 2 km Maha Walk organized by the above-mentioned organizations to raise awareness about Road Safety, No honking, and Responsible Driving.
We all have had those moments of anger and irritation from the constant traffic honking, right? And the increasing number of accidents on the roads is another issue altogether. I am so happy that Maha Walkathon decided to address this issue and generate social awareness about it.
You know the event was a grand success when right from a kid to an elderly person, both ranging from 5-80 years of age, came down and together supported this initiative! The event wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing and well-organized support from the Mumbai Police, Maharashtra Police, constant safety watch from the Fire Department and many more departments! The event was warmly supported by schools, colleges, and also NGO’s.
In Mumbai, the event was flagged off from Mantralaya at 8 am, by the Honorable Minister Shri Chandrakant Dada Patil. The event kicked off simultaneously in 503 other locations across Maharashtra!
And I saved the best for the last!
Maha Walkathon has created a WORLD RECORD !!
Isn’t this huge and amazing?
I am so happy and proud of such initiatives that our Government takes for the betterment of the society!
Some key members that worked behind the scenes for this event are:
Mr. Paresh Sheth, Director at CASI Global and Trustee at CSR Diary.
Dr. Mitez, who is a Trustee at CSR DIARY.
Mr. Saunik, who is the Principal Secretary at PWD and a senior IAS Officer as well.
What do you think about the Maha Walkathon?
